Big questions … the biggest answer

What really matters most in this life? cross over sunset

What is each person’s primary meaning and purpose?

What do you think about all that is wrong in the world?

What do you think about the end of your life and what awaits you after this life?

Are your answers to these questions based on your best guesses? Or have you given serious consideration to the best evidence available?

Are you thoroughly satisfied with the life your conclusions have produced? Or do you have a sense, when alone with your thoughts, that there’s more, there’s better … there’s a life you would take in a heartbeat, but it just seems out of reach?

There was a man who walked the earth 2000 years ago who claimed to have the answers to these questions. His life is as well documented as any man in history. His brief stint in this world has been more influential than any other. Most importantly, he claimed that his death singularly secured the best of this life and the next for any person who would trust him to do for them what they could never do for themselves.

The proof he offered of his ability to deliver what he promised was an empty tomb. Far beyond imaginative fiction, his resurrection was witnessed by hundreds and verified by many who died professing what they had seen; people who would never have laid down their lives for a lie.

Easter has been made out to be many things to many people … but it is essentially about a life-giving death, willingly endured by One who claimed to be God, who then removed all doubt by rising bodily from the dead. His name is Jesus.

He said, “I came that they (all who would believe) might have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) His love for you will be on display this weekend wherever the good news of his death and resurrection are proclaimed.
